Emma Watson isn’t at all about being swamped by the role in her past as Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter series. In fact, the actress is all set to move her real magic wand in the latest work of Sofia Coppola, The Bling Ring, where she goes beyond ‘Hogwarts’ to become a young cast for the film.
The Bling Ring opened the Un Certain Regard division of Cannes film festival.
Emma, in talking about her experience, keeps Harry Potter and her past role in high regard, while conveying her desire to be indulged in new roles. The actress says she has liked every moment of the transformation that the past 3 or 4 years have offered her in letting her come across with new and “creative people”.
Watson had a role to play in My Week with Marilyn, while she is about to appear in the Biblical epic Noah by Aronofsky. The actress felt freer as she could “improvise” here. Coppola’s work takes the real story of the teenagers from Los Angeles, from privileged backgrounds, as they burgle luxury items from the wealthy households in order to satiate their wardrobes as well as lifestyles.
Coppola, however, clarified that the film is not intent on making the real life ‘bling ring’ more famous and that she wasn’t “too concerned” with their reaction.
