Legendary Telugu actor Dr. Akkineni Nageswara Rao passed away after several months of battling cancer at 2.12 am on Wednesday at a private hospital located at Hyderabad, India.
The actor was 91 and was diagnosed with cancer last October. He is survived by two sons and three daughters, one of his son is the popular actor Tollywood actor Nagarjuna.
The veteran actor has 256 films to his credit over a period of 70 year career span that include mythological, romantic and social themes. He made his debut in 1944 in the film, SitaRama Jananam.
His son Nagarjuna said that the actor passed away in his sleep. As soon as the sad news spread, people of the Indian Telugu film industry and other fields visited his residence in the posh Jubilee Hills locality.
His body would be placed at Annapurna Film Studios for the public to pay their last respects to the actor. The legendary actor had some best films such as Batasari, Prem Nagar and Devadasu. He had wrapped shooting for his last flick, Manam that has the three generations of his family. The film has the legendary actor, his son Nagarjuna and his grandson, Naga Chaitanya acting in it.
