Known worldwide as the fragrance industry’s Oscars, the Fragrance Foundation Awards was held last night in New York’s Alice Truly hall that attracted a host of stars.
The award for the “Celebrity of the Year” was given to singer Taylor Swift, who according to the jury uplifted the fragrance world with her “Wonderstruck” and “Wonderstruck Enchanted” scents.
Teen sensation Justin Bieber won two awards, but wasn’t present at the ceremony. His “Girlfriend” perfume beat Lady Gaga’s “Fame” to take home the top award in the Favourite Women’s Fragrance category. It also won the Consumer Choice category.
The ceremony was hosted by comedian Dana Carvey, where Linda Wells of “Allure” was inducted in the Hall of Fame section. Presenters included Dita Von Teese, Connie Britton, Jessica Szohr, Sky Ferreira, Ken Kaufman and Isaac Franco.
This annual ceremony that started back in 1973 has become an event driven mainly by celebrities, who are busy slapping their names on fragrances every year.
Firmenich’s top chemist, Albert Morillas won the year’s Best Perfumer award, whereas the luxury award in both Women’s and Men’s category was won by “Florabotanica Balenciaga Paris” and “Colonia Intensa Oud Acqua Di Parma” respectively.
